Kati Thanda – Lake Eyre is Australia’s biggest lake covering over 9,500sqkm and in 2019 we had the privilege of seeing it in flood, with the most water it had seen in 45 years. The lake has only filled three times in the last 160 years, but when it does fill there’s an incredible influx of literally thousands of pelicans and other birds, fish that come to life from seemingly nowhere, and just the most breathtaking and beautiful colors on the edge of a desert in the driest continent on earth.

If there is one thing which sums up Australia best, it has to be our love of the outdoors. From the bush to the beach, we are absolutely blessed with some of the most stunning landscapes on the planet, and we love nothing more than getting out there and soaking up the rugged beauty of this place – especially when (as in some cases below) going from the ocean to the outback is literally just a few steps.
